Dr. Redempta K. Mutisya
Chair and Program Coordinator

Dr. Redempta Mutisya is an accomplished public health expert, lecturer, and researcher with over 20 years of experience in education, community development, and project management. She holds a PhD in Public Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and is currently a lecturer at Kenyatta University.
As the Chair and Program Coordinator of Wezesha CBO, Dr. Mutisya has been instrumental in steering impactful initiatives, such as large-scale tree planting campaigns in partnership with Equity Bank and the International Tree Foundation. Her expertise in research, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building ensures Wezesha’s programs remain evidence-based and aligned with its mission to foster environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and resilience.
Dr. Mutisya’s dedication to advancing education and health aligns with Wezesha’s values of collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development. She continues to inspire transformative change in Nakuru and beyond.
Lydia Wanjiku Maina
Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion Officer

Lydia Wanjiku Maina is a passionate advocate for women empowerment and community development, with over a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, gender inclusion, and beauty therapy. At Wezesha CBO, she serves as the Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion Officer, championing programs that empower vulnerable groups to transform their lives through reforestation, alternative livelihoods, energy-efficient technologies, and kitchen gardening. Her efforts reflect Wezesha’s commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive communities.
Lydia’s role extends to building partnerships with stakeholders to promote gender equality and maintaining meticulous records as the organization’s secretary. Her hands-on approach and dedication to capacity-building align with Wezesha’s mission to nurture self-reliance and environmental stewardship.
Additionally, Lydia is a certified beauty therapist and a trainer in alternative livelihood initiatives, leveraging her entrepreneurial skills to inspire grassroots communities. Her unwavering commitment to inclusivity and resilience makes her an integral part of the Wezesha team.
Irene J. Cheruiyot
Landscape Conservation & Restoration Officer and Educator

Irene J. Cheruiyot is a dedicated professional specializing in landscape conservation and public health education. As Treasurer and Landscape Conservation & Restoration Officer at Wezesha Community Based Organization, she develops and oversees restoration strategies, tree planting activities, and stakeholder collaboration to promote sustainable practices.
Irene is also a seasoned lecturer at the Kenya Institute of Management and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, teaching project management, public health, and community health. She mentors students in research and practical applications while contributing to curriculum development and certified training programs.
A Certified Monitoring and Evaluation Facilitator, Irene is a published researcher addressing public health issues. With advanced degrees in Project Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Public Health, she combines academic and practical expertise to foster impactful community and environmental change.
